Voices from Nowhere

The artist had the opportunity to participate in a residency at the fish-farming pond in Tai Sang Wai, Yuen Long, Hong Kong where local residents were relocated next door due to the construction of Fairview Garden 30-40 years ago. Currently, there are about 70 residences in Tai Sang Wai, with the elderly comprising the majority. Among these, only 3 to 4 households are involved in fish farming. Following her work “Voices from Elsewhere" at The Fish Pond Sustainable Festival 2018, the artist planned to create a new piece, a sequel to the earlier work. Through repeated practices of shooting and editing, she reflects her personal life experiences. Yet, the narrative was more than just intimate mumbling; the film aimed to raise questions for both the director and the audience. The bio chain itself represented an interdependent network, pulling one’s individual perception deep into the abyss.
